Here is what she had to say:
“Last Sunday, I went to the Baptist Church and feed the homeless people of Christchurch. Of course I did not do this alone, there were other students from Catholic schools there. The whole evening was organised by Young Vinnies.
We prepared lots of different meals and served those on a long white table in the foyer.
Lots of people came to receive meals, I was quite surprised by the number of people who turned up. The people who came, women and men, waited in line patiently and very politely thanked for the meals we provided.
I felt very happy to see their smiling faces when they sat down to eat their food. It was a big change when you see them on the street, but when you give them something to eat, you see how happy they are. They are not what you think they are. Those people were very polite.
I would definitely do it again, because I really want to help out in the community and help the people who are less fortunate than we are.”
